About the event

Being a professional artist takes much more than just creativity and artistic talent. Every working artist knows that the business side of things is just as, if not more, important than the art itself. That’s why professional artist and finance expert Julie Locker is here to guide you with an overview of financial literacy geared specifically towards artists!

2-hour workshop including:

- comprehensive budgeting advice tailored for independent contractors

- money mindset: replacing anxiety with empowerment

-retirement planning for freelancers how to self-fund your projects

-presentation and talk back with a professional artist & financial expert

About the Teaching Artist: Julie Sonia Locker (she/her) is a Cincinnati-based performing artist and financial advisor with Black Bull Capital Partners. She also serves on the Board of Directors for The Ghostlight Stage Company. The nexus of her two careers is her belief in inclusion and accessibility, whether she is helping community members see themselves reflected onstage or helping underserved communities grow their wealth. She has performed and written for Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Fringe, Pones, The Know Theatre, The Carnegie, Richmond Shakespeare Festival, and Actor's Theatre of Columbus. She is also an improviser and sketch comedian with ComedySportz and Alphas.
